

Margaret R. (Minichillo) Briant, 82, of Old Forge, NY, Goodyear, AZ and formerly of North Syracuse, passed away Friday at University Hospital. Born in Syracuse, she resided in Old Forge for the last 33 years. She received a Bachelor’s Degree in Business from SUNY Albany. Margaret retired from G.E. after 36 years of service. She was very active in the Town of Webb Historical Society and also the Town of Webb Library where she would read to children. Mrs. Briant’s husband, John, published eight books and she was the main Editor for all eight of his books. An avid piano player, Margaret possessed an intellect like no other. Mrs. Briant was a member of “The View’ Art Center in Old Forge. Predeceased by her first husband, Donald Powers in 1971; sisters, Victoria (Mike) Vecchiarelli and Mary Minichillo.
Survivors include her loving husband of 33 years, John; two daughters, Deborah (John) O’Rourke and Peggy Powers, both of Syracuse; son, Frederick (Joan) Powers of Syracuse; three grandchildren, Brenton (Colleen) Powers, Matthew Powers, and Jason Fowler and three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services: Monday 7 P.M. at FARONE & SON FUNERAL HOME. Burial will be private. Calling hours will be held on Monday from 4-7 P.M. at the funeral home, 1500 Park Street, Syracuse.
