Shelley Stein

Shelley Caren Stein, 64 of Syracuse, Brooklyn and San Francisco left this world on May 5th after a courageous battle with cancer. Shelley was a kind and gentle soul whose heart and smile were welcoming to all. Shelley spent many years as a Social Worker at the Salvation Army Women’s Shelter where her kindness and compassion helped to enhance the lives of those who were challenged by mental illness. Shelley was pre-deceased by her grandparents Emanuel and Blanche Levinson, parents Willie and Agnes Blumenfeld and step-father Clint Overton, brother Harold Blumenfeld and sister and brother-in-law Judy and Morty Birnbaum.

Shelley is survived by her best friend and life partner, Lisa B. Dodge; brother , Emanuel Overton and his wife, Jahnese and their children Clint and Juliette, Harold’s children Edward and Elizabeth and their mother Phyllis; Judy and Morty’s children Jan, Julius, Jacob, Belinda, David and Rebecca and 4 grand- nieces and 5 grand-nephews as well as her ex-husband Andrew Perlstein. Shelley will also be dearly missed by her San Francisco family - Charles, Marshall, Erica and Lowell as well as many friends and colleagues in Syracuse.
