Hilberto Rodriguez

Hilberto “Gil” Rodriguez passed away on Tuesday, December 31, 2013, at the age of 73. Gil was born in Taft, Texas, on August 9, 1940, to Santiago and Lydia Rodriguez. He was a retired veteran of the United States Army. Gil owned and operated his own business, American Electronics, for several years. He later earned his teaching degree from Texas A & M, Corpus Christi, Texas. Gil provided Notary Service for the surrounding area for many years. He was a devoted husband, father and brother. His love and great sense of humor will be dearly missed.

He is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; three sisters; brothers-in-law, Florencio Moreno and Dennis Topper.

Gil leaves to cherish his memory his wife of forty-seven years, Maria Josefina Rodriguez; son, Gilbert Santiago Rodriguez; sisters, Romana Moreno, Audelia Rodriguez, Juana (Santos) Saldana and Molly Topper; brothers, Alfredo ( Minnie) Rodriguez, Peter (Patricia) Rodriguez; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 2, 2014, from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Colonial Funeral Home Chapel with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. that same evening. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, January 3, 2014, at Holy Family Catholic Church, Taft. Interment will follow the service at Texas State Veterans Cemetery, Corpus Christi with Military Honors.
