Annie Mae Morgan was born on May 11th, 1936, in Chuachupa, Chihuahua, Mexico, the daughter of William and Aurelia (Valencia) Skinner. There were other children brought up in the household. She moved to the United States and began working in El Paso, and it was at this time a handsome young soldier named Shelby Morgan caught her eye. When she turned 17, the couple were wed in Las Cruses, NM, on January 10th, 1954. Together they shared over 69 years of memories, laughter and all that life could send their way, and raised a family of four children, Rosanna, Alan, Janet and Maura. Shelby was a career Army man and they family called the world their home, from Germany to Korea and back to El Paso. She loved being a homemaker for her husband, children and grandchildren. When she wasn’t making her famous tacos and enchiladas, she was crocheting and making blankets for everyone in her family and every new mother in the church received one for her baby as well. She possessed a keen sense of humor and was a delightful conversationalist. Annie has been known to prank her family more than once. She knew what she liked and didn’t and could tell you the difference. She was strong willed and determined, and this helped keep her going strong. Annie had a close walk with God and served Him all the days of her life. Annie and Shelby worked tirelessly at Skyline Baptist Church for years, teaching Sunday School and helping with Vacation Bible School, or anything else that was needed of her, and all with a willing heart. Traveling and spending time with her best friend and husband Shelby was always on her favorites list. Her grand and great grandchildren were always a source of great pride, and she couldn’t wait until she could rock her babies and cover them in kisses. Like all people do, Annie faced adversity in her life, especially with the death of her son Alan, and her granddaughter, Meghan. Yet her faith in God to see her through carried her forward to see the beauty of each new day. She grew tired and the Lord called this wonderful woman home from her many labors on June 16th, 2023, at her home in Tulsa, surrounded by the family she loved all of her life. She was 87 years old and will be greatly missed.
She is preceded in death by her grandparents, he mother and father, her son, Alan Morgan and her granddaughter, Meghan Howard.
