Arney “Gene” Hutson entered this life on April 5th, 1947 in Park Hill, OK, the son of Ira Slaton and Velma Mae (Winsett) Hutson. Gene was always known to be a very straightforward individual. After graduating from Tahlequah High School, he did not hesitate to serve his country in the United States Air Force. Gene worked as a Helicopter Mechanic during his near seven years of service, before his honorable discharge on July 9th, 1973. Along life’s journey, he met the love of his life, Carolyn Fay Walker and their marriage was blessed with four sons. Together, they shared over 51 years of love and memories. Out of all the places, home was his favorite place to be. His outings usually involved a trip to the woods, out hunting and fishing with his buddy, “Speedy” and his sons. He and his boys were always up for a chance to turn out the rabbit dogs and see what they could stir up. When there wasn’t a rabbit to chase, he would be just as happy hunting deer, turkey or whatever wild game he could find. Never one to joke around much, if you asked for his opinion, you better be able to handle the “no nonsense” answer coming back to you. Gene knew how to truly appreciate life to the fullest and never shied away from working, making a career out of running his own dump truck for Arkola, and later settled down to develop his craftsmanship in carpentry work. He was an amazing man and someone everyone looked up to. Gene left a legacy that will be remembered by all who knew and loved him.
Those that completed life’s journey before him include his parents, one son, Jerry Gene Hutson, one brother, Barney Hutson, and one brother-in-law, Darrell Welch.
Left to remember the adventure is his wife, Carolyn Hutson of the home, three sons, Terry Lee Hutson and wife Darla Mae of Peggs, OK, Jerry Lane Hutson of Hulbert, OK, and Bobby Joe Hutson and wife Dan of Tahlequah, OK, one brother, Ronnie Hutson and wife Lynda of Cookson, OK, three sisters, Mary Halpain and husband Leon of Tahlequah, OK, Viola Welch of Tulsa, OK, and Barbara Shawber and husband Jake of Watts, OK. His memory lives on through three grandchildren Lindsay Baker and husband Chad of Hulbert, OK, Haley Hutson of Peggs, OK, and Hannah Hutson of Tahlequah, OK, four great grandchildren, Dustin Lee Hutson, Samantha Joe Hutson, Lynnlee Joyce Baker, and Casen Joe Baker, along with his very best friend Junior “Speedy” Gonzales and many other friends and loved ones.
