Ataloa Postoak was born January 12th, 1948 in Tahlequah, OK, the daughter of Isaac and LouElla Mae (O’field) Postoak. Ataloa was blessed with a large family, raised in a household of ten siblings. From a young age, she loved being outside, fishing along the creek banks or picking wild onions. Her and her older sister shared many memories during their many fishing trips together. Family get-togethers were spent outside, playing horseshoes and cracking jokes with one another. Ataloa was quite the jokester; she had a charmed way of bringing joy to everyone around her and had a tremendous laugh. It was important to her to stay in contact with those she loved, even if just a phone call. “Haw, whoever heard” would ring out at the end of every good story. When she wasn’t home, she could be found attending the local gospel singings and was faithful to catch the races at the Salina Highbanks Speedway every weekend. Car races were always accompanied by her great friend, Wanda and Wanda’s son, David. Ataloa and David had a special bond and way of communicating like no other. She possessed unbelievable strength and courage through her battle with cancer and never lost her smile. On April 9th, 2020, this bright soul was called home at the age of 72, with family by her side. She was an amazing friend, sister and aunt to so many and will be greatly missed.
She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Marvin, Harry, Edwin, and George Postoak; twin brothers, Raymond and Phillip Postoak, along with one infant sister, TeAta Lushanyah Postoak and numerous other loved ones.
Those left to remember Ataloa include her sisters, Lushanyah Henson and spouse Jodie of Kansas, OK and Nadine L. Postoak of Siloam Springs, AR and one brother, Edison L. Postoak of Tulsa, OK. Her memory lives on through a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews, as well as, countless friends.
