Barbara Sue Farmer

Barbara Sue Farmer was born on January 9, 1941, to Alice Crittenden Jordan Scott and Thomas Ray Scott of Tahlequah, Ok. She was raised in the Tahlequah area and graduated from Tahlequah High School in 1959. Barbara would marry Ross Roger Farmer, Sr., on September 3, 1976. They would travel a lot over several years before he would precede her in death in February 2002.

Barbara would work numerous jobs throughout her lifetime before retiring from her latest job at Reasor’s Grocery Store in Tahlequah.

Barbara would continue to live her best life surrounded by her children and grandchildren. She never tired of being in the company of one, two, or many. She enjoyed being outdoors in the warm weather, tending to her yard or flower beds. She loved to paint, cook, and bake. She loved traveling, often taking off with her friend Brenda and husband Freddie. Most times, the kids wouldn’t even know she was gone. Barbara loved watching her grandchildren play whatever sport they participated in. She loved attending church services at Swimmer Baptist Church in Hulbert whenever she could. Although she could not speak the Cherokee language, she enjoyed listening to Cherokee Hymns and commented that they were the most beautiful sounds she had ever heard.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ross Farmer, one sister Bobbie Powell, one brother Billy Ray Scott. Sons, Aaron Thomas and Joseph Farmer, Infant daughter Krystal Farmer, Donna Sue Grant, Phyllis Henson, Rebecca Farmer, Rosie Kinnikin, Rosa McClure, and Angela Jean Farmer. Granddaughter; Leslie Kilpatrick, Great-granddaughter; Blakely Jo McClure, Great grandson, Joshua Boston, and three sons-in-law, Lonnie McClure, David Ledbetter, and Terry Grant.

She is survived by her children: Mike Thomas, of Tahlequah, Jeff Thomas & wife Angie of Tulsa, Roger Farmer & wife Janet of Hulbert, Tina Farmer & Jacob Master of Tahlequah, Susan Ledbetter of Hulbert, Wanda Johnson & husband Ronnie of Hulbert. She is also survived by 101 grandchildren and many more relatives and friends, too numerous to mention.

A visitation will be held at Reed-Culver Funeral Home on January 13, 2026, from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm. The funeral service will take place at 11:00 am on January 14, 2026, at Reed Culver Funeral Home. Barbara will be laid to rest at Tahlequah City Cemetery in Tahlequah, Oklahoma.

Pallbearers for the service include Jordan Thomas, Dylan Leep, Joseph McClure, Roger McClure, Justin Farmer, Joshua Masters, Greg Glenn, and Kevin Glenn. Honorary pallbearers are James Morgan, Jeremy Boston, Jason Simmons, Brandon Simmons, Austin Grant, and Joseph Farmer Jr.

The family would like to thank Hillcrest Hospital in Tulsa, as well as Clarehouse Hospice in Tulsa, for the care and comfort given to our loving mother.
