Cheyenne Denise (Dodson) Dye was born on May 3rd, 1996 in Tahlequah, OK, the daughter of Cody Dean and Sharon (Soldier) Dodson. She grew up with two brothers and one sister, David King, Shelby King, and Nikki Presley. She attended and graduated from Gentry high school. While attending school, she was a cheerleader, a color guard captain and participated in band. She was State Champion in Forensics, and loved bowling and doing her hair and makeup. She received the Fulbright Scholarship, the highest academic scholarship at the University of Arkansas. Then she began her studies at Northeastern State University. She wanted to learn and teach Cherokee Language. She was fiercely proud of her Cherokee Heritage, and championed as an Advocate for Missing Indigenous Women. Cheyenne attained the Dean’s Honor Role at NSU, as the most outstanding underclassman in her degree plan of NSU. She met and married Tyler Evans Dye on March 17, 2014, and together they raised two sons and one daughter, Ian Alexander, Lennon James and Eleanor Everly. Her family was her pride and joy, there wasn’t anything she wouldn’t do for those she loved. Holidays with her family were her favorite and she was so proud of all the accomplishments they made daily. She made sure her children knew their heritage, and knew as much about the world as they could understand at their age. She loved paintball, playing and watching sports of all types, and keeping up with current events. She loved keeping up with friends, family and neighbors, often watching Facebook to keep up with the latest. She worked at Starbucks as a Barista, and these people were not simply co-workers but close friends. She adored her friends regardless of how long she’d known them or how she’d met them. If you ever saw her smile, it was warm and bright, her eyes sparkled when she talked and she didn’t know what a stranger was. She bubbled with enthusiasm, and loved the day from beginning to the end. Her health began to fail her, and in her usual Cheyenne fashion, she met her cancer head on. She fought it with everything she had, because she had so very much to live for. She lost the battle on October 5th, 2021 in Tulsa, OK after reaching the age of 25 years old. Her star burned bright and leaves many memories of happiness and love as only Cheyenne could show it. She will be missed.
She is preceded in death by her grandfather, Andy Soldier, and grandmother, Mary Dodson.
