Chris attended Tahlequah Public Schools and graduated in 1980. He was employed by TPWA for 27 years, during which time two of his children, Rachel and David, were born to his first marriage. Chris was known as an amazing softball coach, forging many lifelong friendships during his “softball days.” His love of the game stayed with him throughout his life. Chris also enjoyed woodworking and took pride in creating pieces meant to last.
He later entered a second marriage, welcoming his youngest child, Sammie, into the family. Chris adored his children and grandchildren and made it a point to attend every activity they were involved in. He loved making people laugh and was always up for a good prank, especially if it involved jumping out to scare someone, whether he knew them or not. Chris was an avid outdoorsman. He could fish for days at a time and proudly called himself the “Catfish King.” Whether it was boating on the lake, kayaking, or spending the day on the creek, he was always trying to catch something, usually with a Mountain Dew in hand.
Chris was definitely one of a kind, to know him was to love him.
Chris was preceded in death by his grandson, Skynnard Tucker; his mother, Cubie Dodd; his maternal grandparents, Ran and Roxie McCoy; his paternal grandparents, Ray and Dollie Dodd; and Dakota Hooks.
Those left to cherish his memory include his father, Bob Dodd of Tahlequah; his sister, Vicki Dodd Wilkinson and her husband, Don, of Kansas, Oklahoma; his daughter, Rachael Dodd and partner Brandon McGregor of Shady Grove; his son, David Dodd of Shady Grove; his daughter, Sammie Dodd of Hulbert; Emma Hooks of Hulbert; Ace Hooks of Tennessee; his grandchildren, Caden, Tavaree, Zariah, McCoy, Cora, and Clover; and his longtime partner, Trina Vaughn of Hulbert, along with a host of family, friends, and loved ones.
This isn’t goodbye. It’s see ya later.
