Christine Downing Davis

Funeral services for Christine Downing-Davis will be held on Friday, May 22nd, 2015 at 10:00 AM at Illinois River Baptist Church with Pastor Andy Harlin officiating. Visitation will be held at Reed-Culver Chapel on Thursday, May 21st, 2015 from 11:00 AM until 6:00 PM. Interment will be held at Thompson Cemetery near Chewey, OK. Pallbearers for Christine include Charles “Sonny” Davis, Michael Davis, Waylon Davis, Brenton Davis, Sheldon Davis and Matt Fore. Honorary pallbearers include Hayden Davis, Seth Fore and Hunter Fore. Christine’s flower girls include Raven Davis, Harley Hopton, Addyson Fore, Alexis Davis and honorary flower girl, Kynzee Fore.

Christine Downing-Davis was born on December 6th, 1940, the daughter of Mick and Pearl (Earp) Downing. She attended school in Westville and Watts. She met the love of her life, Charley Davis, and together they raised four children, Raynetta, Charleta, Charles and Mike. Christine was a homemaker by trade. She loved to sew and made beautiful quilts and clothing. She spent a lot of time in the kitchen creating delicious food like chicken and dumplings, biscuits and gravy, and frybread for her family and friends to enjoy. She worked in her vegetable and flower gardens whenever the weather would permit. She had chickens and dogs, which she treated more like pets and was fond of her special baby, “Tiny”. Chrisitne was sweet and loving, and seldom showed any sign of being cross. She had a wonderful sense of humor and was always happy with her life. She adored her children and grandchildren, and treasured each and every moment with them. She was so proud of her family and watched their accomplishments and supported them in all their endeavors. A Christian by faith, she was a member of the Illinois River Baptist Church. Her health began to fail her, and Christine went home to her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, May 19th, 2015 in Tulsa, OK with her family by her side. She was 74 years old. She will be greatly missed for her constant love and support she gave to all those blessed to know her.

Christine is preceded in death by her grandparents, Bill and Rose Crittenden, her mother and father, her daughter Raynetta Davis, her brother, Barney Earp, and one great granddaughter, Kynzee Fore.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Charley Davis of the home in Watts. She leaves three children, Charleta Hopton of Chewey, OK, Charles “Sonny” Davis and wife Laura of Chewey, OK, and Mike Davis and wife Sherri of Spavinaw, OK. Her sister, Jackie Kingfisher and husband Dennis of Kansas, OK survive her as well. Her legacy lives on in her seven grandchildren, Lindsey Fore and husband Matt of Chewey, OK, Waylon Davis and companion Tammy Garner of Chewey, OK, Brenton Davis of Spavinaw, OK, Sheldon Davis and companion Kiersten Welch of Chewey, OK, Raven Davis of Chewey, OK, Hayden Davis of Chewey, OK, and Harley Hopton of Siloam Springs, AR. She leaves four great grandchildren, Seth Fore, Hunter Fore, Adyson Fore, and Alexis Davis, as well as many cousins and a host of friends and loved ones.
