Dennis Irvin Mullins was born on Wednesday, September 25, 1946, in Witts Springs, AR, the son of Dennis “DI” Irvin Mullins and June Gertrude Drewery Mullins. He was raised with one brother and two sisters, Dale, Maxcine, and Wanda. He graduated high school from Tahlequah and then began his college studies. He was an Over the Road Truck Driver for United Parcel Service, a job he thoroughly enjoyed. He knew the value of a dollar, yet he never failed to reach out to those that needed his help, and gave generously to the Shriners Hospitals for Children and St. Judes. He was a big fan of the Dallas Cowboys, and when he was younger, never failed to miss a game. Then there was his love of car racing, Thunderbird Speedway was a favorite haunt, and he and his best friend James Tye were part of a pit crew there. He was a member of the Muskogee Gun Club, and really liked sporting days that featured shooting. He was a quiet, thoughtful person, yet he loved interacting with people and getting to share a laugh or two. He never had any children of his own, and so his niece and nephews became his family. Jane, Robert and Dale were special to Dennis. A Christian by faith, Dennis was baptized at the Boulevard Christian Church in Muskogee. The Lord called this hard working man home from his many labors on Saturday, September 9th, 2023 in Muskogee, OK. He was 76 years old and will be greatly missed.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, his mother and father, his brother Dale Mullins, two sisters, Maxcine Denton and Wanda Loretta Myers, and one nephew, Robert Myers.
Those left to celebrate his life include his nieces and nephew, Jane Thompson and husband David of Edmond, OK, Dale Everett Myers of Owasso, OK, great nephew, Jeff Thompson of Oklahoma City, OK, great nieces, Katie Moore of Edmond, OK and Robyn Cook of Phoenix, AZ and his best friend, James Tye and wife Linda of Muskogee, OK, as well as many friends and a host of loved ones too numerous to mention.
Graveside services for Dennis Irvin Mullins will be held on Tuesday, September 19th, 2023, at 1:00pm with Reverend David Wiens officiating. He will be laid to rest with his parents.
