Deretha LeeAnn Dawes was born on August 31st, 1978 in Tahlequah, OK, the daughter of Mike and Deretha (Anderson) Dawes. She grew up with two brothers and one sister, Mikeal Dawes, Kate Dawes-Taylor, and Daniel Dawes. She attended and graduated from Tahlequah High School in 1998. She then began her studies to start her career in Criminal Justice. She took classes at both Connor and Phoenix, and worked for a time as a pharmacy technician at Three Rivers Clinic in Muskogee. She loved her son, Ranger Studie, very much. She adored him, and couldn’t get enough of his friendship, laughter and the time they spent in each other’s company. She loved a wide variety of activities in her life. She was one heck of a good softball player, and was the best hind catcher in the business. She was always ready to go to the Renaissance Faire, and Comicon was an all-time favorite, she loved meeting her favorite celebrities. She couldn’t wait to spend a little pool time, just relaxing with her family, she loved any chance to get together. She loved the holidays and weekends when they could all be together. She was the family protector, and saw herself as the one they could come to for help and guidance. When she was resting at home, she was watching horror films, and listening to music, from country to modern and anything in between. She liked going for a walk with her metal detector, looking for buried treasure. She was blessed with a large heart, a compassionate nature and a really excellent sense of humor, she could take it and dish it out just the same! There was nothing more she liked than her family and it was with so very hard for her to leave the ones she loved so very much. She was a lifetime member of the Cedar tree Church, and loved her church family dearly. The Lord called this wonderful daughter, sister, mother and aunt home from her labors on May 24th, 2021 at Tulsa, OK, surrounded by those who loved her. She was 42 years old and will never be forgotten.
She is preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Lee Anna Anderson and Leo Anderson, her beloved dad, Mike Dawes, a very special father figure Harrison Fentress, cousin and best friend, Joshua Anderson, and her uncles, Brian Anderson and Jim Richardson.
