Dona Jo Johnson-Lusk departed this life peacefully on November 17, 2023 in Fort Gibson, Oklahoma at the age of 83 years old. Dona was born on September 25, 1940 in Peggs, Oklahoma to Carl John and Pauline Minerva Johnson. She was the oldest of three, and the only girl. She was a graduate of Muskogee High school. She thrived at serving others through various activities at her church and abroad in South America. Dona owned and operated her own massage therapy business. She was influenced by her Native American background and used many Cherokee and Choctaw healing techniques in her practice. Through her marriage she was blessed to bring in two children (LaDona and Brent) that she thoroughly enjoyed raising. Dona was successful in her business, and her life.
Dona loved to tell stories, which included her real life, her family, her dreams, things she saw and her experiences. She was proud to be a Native American. She loved everything represented through her heritage but she lived by the determination and influence that it represented. Dona was always known by her beautiful jewelry, that she wore and the jewelry she made. She was a hard and honest worker who desired to be an influence to others. She would willingly and regularly put the needs of others above her own. She was willing to learn and grow in any environment she was placed in, and she always did so with a smile. Dona loved the changing of the seasons and the beauty that it brought. She enjoyed driving around viewing the changing colors of the foliage. Dona was well loved everywhere she went and will be missed by many. Dona loved watching her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren grow, and was involved in their lives. Dona Jo came into this world with a strong will to survive and a strength to follow her dreams, and looking at the life she lived she was successful with her dream.
She embodied fearlessness from the beginning and that same fearlessness carried her to the end.
Dona is survived by many family members which include, both her brothers (Carl Allen and Chad), her children (LaDona Cooper and Brent Lusk) 10 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, a multitude of relatives, and friends.
