Doris Mae Vest-Pass was born on January 27th, 1928 in Navarro. TX, the daughter of Elmer Austin and Cecil Florence (Cloud) Vest. She grew up with three brothers and attended school in Wilson, Oklahoma. Upon graduating, she attended college at University of Oklahoma, Norman, where she met the man she would spend her life with, Charles D. Pass. They were married on December 22nd, 1946 in her parent’s home. Together they raised a family of one daughter, Annette and one son, Dewayne, and shared 75 years of happy memories. She enjoyed being a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. In her younger years, she enjoyed singing in the quartet and octet. She taught yoga and practiced Reiki, quilting, worked puzzles and enjoyed painting in oils. She was a firm believer in self-healing. She had many talents and she shared them with others.
Doris was a member of the Light of Christ Church, where she played piano. The church group traveled extensively to multiple destinations such as Uzbekistan, Esbekistan, Orust, Siberia, Samarkand, Finland, Russia, Mongolia and the Gobi Desert. She would later accompany her husband to Hawaii, Mexico and Canada. She was outgoing and friendly, never met a stranger. She was the friend that would greet you with a hug and a pat on the back. She possessed a sweet smile, gave wet kisses and did a little jig when she was happy. Doris looked for any excuse to spend time with her 5 grand and 5 great grandchildren.
Doris went on to a new life on March 20th, 2022 at her home at Sparrow Hawk Village, surrounded by the family she loved. She was 94 years old and will be greatly missed.
She is preceded in death by her grandparents, her parents and three brothers.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Charles of the home in Sparrow Hawk Village, and her children, Annette Sunlin and husband Don of Tahlequah, OK, and her son, Dewayne Pass and wife Sally of Tulsa, OK. She lives on in her five grandchildren, Anneka Sunlin and partner Julie Spear of Westminster, CO, Leah Trollinger and husband Troy of Flower Mound, TX, Aaron Sunlin of Fayetteville, AR, Jairia Pass and partner Ryan Jennemann of Los Angeles, CA, and Tamara Pendelton and husband Kent of Montgomery, TX. She also leaves five great grandchildren, Tyler Trollinger, Tessa Trollinger, Rylee Doyle, Freya Pendelton, and Charles Pendelton, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends and loved ones too numerous to mention.
A Celebration of Life for Doris will be held on Friday, April 1st, 2022 at 4:00pm at Sparrow Hawk Village Community Center and officiated by Regina Maria Cross, MS
