Earl Dobson was born on September 14th, 1938, the son of Emitt “John” and Josie Lou (Burchett) Dobson. He was raised with two siblings, J.B. and Eldee. He graduated from Tahlequah High School. HE earned his living by working for auto parts stores in Tahlequah. He got introduced to Molly Hornback at the Fort Gibson Dance Hall by his brother J.B. in 1958, and they were married 3 years later for $10 in September of 1962 in Stilwell, OK. Together they raised a daughter, Pamela Fay. Earl and Molly enjoyed 59 years together. Earl had many different hobbies over the years, including fighting chickens, trapping, woodworking, restoring scooters and cars, and his last and longest hobby, statuary. Earl and Pam restored her first car when she was 16, a sunflower yellow 1962 Volkswagen beetle. Earl had two grandsons. Mick and Wyley were the highlight of his life every summer. Earl, Molly, Mick, and Wyley went to the Mold auction in Miami, OK, he would give both Mick and Wyley $100 to spend in Walmart. One summer, the boys wrecked Earl’s golf cart and they still won’t admit who did it to this day. Every year for Christmas, the family would give gag gifts, which was Earl’s favorite. As they got older, Earl enjoyed going down to Mick’s shop to see what he was working on. He always left at 1:45pm so he would make it home to watch Judge Judy at 2:00pm. Earl would take burgers from Southside to Wyley down at his skate shop for lunch all the time. Earl and Molly both liked to turn on the TV and watch Gunsmoke re-runs, PBR bull riding, and JB Mooney. Emitt passed from this life on March 8th, 2021 at his home surrounded by his family. He was 82 years old and will be greatly missed by his family.
