
Funeral services for Etta Mae Freeman-McClure will be held on Tuesday, July 21st, 2015 at 2:00 PM at the Reed-Culver Chapel with Pastor David Roberts officiating. Interment will follow at Holland Cemetery in Tahlequah, OK. Online condolences for her family may be left at www.reedculver.com.

Etta Mae Freeman-McClure was born on January 15th, 1926 in Hulbert, OK, the daughter of M.J. and Nancy (Sutton) Freeman. She grew up in a household with her brother, M.J. Jr., and one sister, LaVera. She graduated from Hulbert High School and married her life’s companion, Carl Morgan McClure on November 27, 1945 in Coffeyville, KS. This union was blessed with three children, Carl, Janetta, and Debbie. Etta worked as a cook and food service worker for Talking Leaves at Northeastern State University until she retired. When she wasn’t working, Etta loved time spent with her family. She was always listening to music, watching TV, or reading a good book, she especially liked the National Geographic magazine. When autumn came, Etta was an avid OU fan and watched every game the Sooners played. In her later years, Etta hosted OU football parties at the nursing home for other residents to enjoy. She adored her children and was very proud of her grandchildren and their many accomplishments. Carl preceded Etta with his passing in 1976. A Christian by faith, Etta was called home to her Lord and Savior on July 18th, 2015 in Tahlequah, OK, with her loved ones gathered at her side. Etta was 89 years old. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Etta is preceded in death by her mother, father, her brother, M.J. Freeman Jr., her sister, LaVera Thill, her husband Carl, her daughter, Janetta Cain, and her son, Carl Gene McClure.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Debbie Levings of Chouteau, OK, nine grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren, as well as nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends and loved ones.
