James "Jimmy" Edward Conrad

James Edward “Jimmy” Conrad was born on June 28th, 1960, the son of Hiawatha and Eula Mae (Townsend) Conrad, in Tahlequah, OK. He grew up with five brothers and five sisters, Janet, Margaret, Debra, Tracy, baby Sister, Ricky, George, Randy, William “BJ”, and Eugene. Jimmy grew up in Cherokee County and attended school in Keys, Wolf Springs, Owens and Tahlequah. He loved sports and played softball, basketball and loved to socialize. He was in a Recovery Center and was the Co-Captain of the Porch! It was while he was in recovery that he gave his life to the Lord, and began Bible study with the group. In his earlier years, he enjoyed working with the elders and driving the seniors bus, as well as, working for Tyson Foods where his many co-workers were good friends. His fun personality and great sense of humor was always enjoyed. He was proud of his Cherokee heritage. Jimmy was a jack of all trades, he liked music of all kinds, especially rock and roll. He absolutely adored his nieces and nephews, and loved any chance he had to spend with them. There were always excursions with his “running buddy” “Snuffy” Casey, and the mischief usually followed. Jimmy was a member of “Peaceful Warriors” in Tahlequah, and spent many hours with his comrades. He loved life just the way he found it. He had plans and dreams, but they were put on hold as his health grew weaker. Jimmy passed from this life on May 6th, 2023 in Tahlequah. He was 62 years old and will be greatly missed.

He is preceded in death by grandparents, Tom and Mildred Townsend, and George and Margaret(Gilstrap) Conrad, mother and father, Hiawatha and Eula Mae Conrad, two brothers, Ricky Conrad and Eugene Stover Sr., and two sisters, Janet Martin and Debra Harp and a baby sister, brother in law, Clifford Mensch, very special Aunt Norma Jean, and his best friend and running buddy, Mark “Snuffy” Casey.

Jimmy is survived by his wife, Lisa Conrad of Muskogee, three sons, Matthew Shelton, Michael Shelton and James “Jimbo” Conrad all of Tahlequah, and his brothers and sisters, Margaret Wilson of Tahlequah, Tracy Conrad of Tahlequah, George Thomas Conrad of Tahlequah, Randy Conrad and wife Toni of Tahlequah, William “BJ” Conrad of Tahlequah, sisters in law, Kelly Mensch of Muskogee, OK, and Donna Conrad, and mother-in-law. Shirley Osburn of Muskogee, OK. He leaves 17 grandchildren, Takenya Shelton, Matthew Shelton II, Kianna Shelton. Taleah Conrad, Mitchell Conrad, Gracie Conrad, Jaivyn G., Ariyah G., Rhokiya G, Hunter G, Ryder Shelton, Briana H, Christopher H, Kayleigh H, Austin Shelton, Ruben Shelton, and Lakota Shelton. He lives on in his four great grandchildren Ransen A. , Amira A, Xander C., and Geovanni B, as well as many nieces, nephews, and Loads of friends and loved ones too numerous to mention.

Funeral services for James Edward “Jimmy” Conrad will be held on Friday, May 12th, 2023 at 10:00 AM at Reed-Culver Chapel with Pastor Jack Carey officiating.

Honorary pallbearers include Charles Ray Hougland, Coy Barnes, Billy Barnes, Brian Vance, “Brother” Nathaniel Hubbard, Lloyd Hubbard, and George Hubbard.
