

Funeral services for James Byron Stopp will be held on Tuesday, August 9th, 2016 at 10:00 AM at the Reed-Culver Chapel with Brother Steve Campbell of New Greenleaf Church officiating. James has a visitation services on Monday, August 8th, 2016 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. He will rest in the Tahlequah City Cemetery. Pallbearers for James include John Calvin Stopp, James Lee Stopp, Jim “Hootie” Stopp, Christopher Warren Stopp, Bryan Stopp, Cedar Livesay, David Alan Stopp, and Jeffrey Warren Stopp Jr. Honorary Pallbearers include his brothers and sister, Jerry Stopp, Freddy Stopp, Mike Stopp, Luther Stopp, Alan Stopp, and Kimberly Kirkpatrick.
James Byron Stopp was born on February 1st, 1959 in Lawton, OK, the son of Jimmie Lee and Abbie Virginia (Doyebi) Stopp. He joined a family of seven brothers and one sister, and attended school in Tahlequah. He married Carol Ann Hawkins on February 2, 1979 and from this union he became the proud father of two daughters, Mandy and Sarah. They were the happiness in his daily life. He decided on a career in the nursery industry, his last employment being with J and B Nursery. When he wasn’t working, James loved to spend the day golfing, playing horseshoes, and fishing with his family. He enjoyed listening to music, such as Sarah Evans, Beyonce , Alicia Keys, and Carrie Underwood. He was always happy and smiling, and loved people. He possessed an extraordinary sense of humor, and always ready to make you laugh. He liked any chance to watch OSU sports, and he was the biggest supporter of his grandchildren anytime they played sports. He never missed the chance to go see them play, it didn’t matter when or where. He enjoyed time at the casino with his family and friends. Any time with his family was wonderful to James. James began to have failing health, however he never let it affect the smile he had for his family. He loved all of them so very much. James was called from this life on Thursday, August 4th, 2016 in Tahlequah, OK with his family by his side. He was 57 years old. He will be greatly missed.
James has gone home to see his mother Abbie Virgina (Doyebi) Stopp and father Jimmie Lee Stopp. Two brothers, Terry Lynn Stopp and Jeffrey Warren Stopp, and one sister-in-law, Renda Gail Stopp.
Those left to cherish his memory include his daughters, Mandy Kay (Stopp) Hawzipta and companion Preston C. Walema of the home in Tahlequah and Sarah Ann (Stopp) Garcia and husband Jeremiah Garica of Jay, OK. He leaves his brothers and sister, Jerry Stopp and wife Lesliee of Montgomery, AL, Freddy Stopp of Westville, OK, Mike Stopp of West Plains, MO, Luther Stopp and wife Karla of Stilwell, OK, Alan Stopp of Owasso, OK, and Kimberly Kirkpatrick and husband Duane of Rose, OK. He will live on through his 7 grandchildren, Alicia Walema, Kara Hawzipta, Isaac Hawzipta, Isaiah Walema, Phoenix Hansen, Kenan Garcia, and Allison Garcia, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends and loved ones.
