Jimmy Welch was born on October 12th, 1950 in Hulbert, OK, the son of Martin and Esther (Smith) Welch. He was raised with four brothers and two sisters, Key, Noah, Charley, Anna, Verlita, and Spade. He attended school at both Hulbert and Sequoyah and was enlisted in the US Army, serving honorably from July 4th, 1970 until June 8th, 1972. He returned to the Hulbert area and began working as handyman, repairing a wide variety of items, never taking a shortcut, but doing the very best repair he could do. Jimmy was a man that enjoyed the view from his own backyard, but occasionally got the urge to check out the grass on the other side of the fence. So he would go wandering, looking for antiques and collectibles, and he possessed a keen eye for quality. Jimmy also had the ability to remodel an older home into something really special. For most part, Jimmy was quiet and kept to himself. He liked to see his friends, but never grew tired of the gentle breeze or sounds of birdsong from his yard. He was uncle to twelve nieces and nephews, and enjoyed visiting from time to time. Jimmy passed from this life on July 29th, 2022 at his residence. He was 71 years old.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Charlie and Betsy (David) Smith and John and Nancy (Whitekiller) Welch. He also joins his mother and father, three brothers, Key, Noah, and Charlie and one niece, Janelle Welch.
Those left to cherish his memory include his brother and sisters, Anna Dale and husband Steven of Tahlequah, Verlita Sugar and husband Chris of Tahlequah, and Spade Welch of Hulbert, OK. He leaves his nieces and nephews, Stephanie West, Jennifer Welch, Justin Sugar, John Welch, Sonya Wynn, Chrissie Sugar, Summer Sugar, Janette Welch, Lanette Welch, Joseph Welch, and Scott Sapulpa. He also leaves 14 great nieces and nephews, as well as many cousins and a host of friends and loved ones too numerous to mention.
Private Family Services for Jimmy Welch will be held by his family. He will be laid to rest with the rest of his family at Keener Cemetery. Online condolences for his family may be left at www.reedculver.com.
