

John Wayne Peters was born on March 10th, 1966 in Siloam Springs, AR, the son of Sam and Lucretia (McCarter) Peters. He joined his five brothers and six sisters at home. He attended Kansas School and then decided on a career in Industrial maintenance with Allen Canning Company. A job he held for years. He was first and foremost a loving son, father and grandfather. He was the proud father of three children, Dennis, Lucretia, and Shania. He was also very proud of his Cherokee Heritage and was a fluent Cherokee Speaker. He was happy to be with those he loved, fishing, hunting and doing a little shopping at Bass Pro. He never missed the chance to go to gun shows and classic car shows, he was a fan. He loved gathering his grandchildren together to enjoy some fried chicken with brown beans and fry bread. He could joke and tease with anyone, anywhere, just to see you smile. There were really good stories about Bigfoot and other such legends. His grandchildren were everything he needed to be proud and happy, and he was their biggest fan. A Christian by faith, he attended Twin Oaks Indian Baptist Church and had for years. His health began to fail him and he passed from this life on February 1st, 2022 at his home in Kansas, OK. He was 55 years old and leaves an empty place that cannot be filled.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Joe and Jenny (Blackfox) McCarter, and John Peters, and his mother and father. He also joins five brothers, Jim, Edward, Sam, Bert and Bossie Cummings, and his sister, Anna Lou Crittenden. He also joins his sisters-in-law, Georgia Peters, Nancy Cummings, and brother-in-law, Gary Crittenden and Sammy Chupco.
Those left to cherish his memory include his children, Dennis and Cheyenne Peters of Kansas, OK. Lucretia Dietrich and husband Keith of Tahlequah, and Shania Moore and husband Travis of Kansas, OK. He leaves his brothers and sisters, JoAnn Chupco of Glenpool, OK, Norma Cochran and husband Jim of Houston, TX, Brenda Fowler and husband Bob of Tahlequah, Adlynn Fields and husband Bill of Twin Oaks, OK, and Donna Thompson and husband Mark of Decatur, AR. He leaves his sisters-in-law, Ella Mae Peters of Twin Oaks, OK and Regina Peters of Siloam Springs, AR. He lives on in his five grandchildren, Braxton Peters, Amberley Peters, Adrianna Peters, Anais Moore of Kansas, and Dimitrievich Dietrich of Tahlequah, OK. He also leaves the mother of his children, Paula Peters of Kansas, OK, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends and loved ones.
Funeral services for John Wayne Peters will be held on Thursday, February 10th, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Reed-Culver Chapel with Reverend Jess Glass officiating. His family will receive visitors on Wednesday, February 9th, 2022 beginning at 2:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Reed-Culver Chapel. He will be laid to rest at Bill Batt Cemetery in Rocky Ford Community. Pallbearers for John include Tommy Frazier, Nate Peters, Jeremy Peters, Josh Peters, Roy Castillo, and Clinton Thompson.
