Kelly James Callaway

Kelly James Callaway was born on July 9th, 1956 in Tahlequah, OK, the son of Andrew James and M. Faye (Adkisson) Callaway-Magee. He grew up with four brothers and two sisters, Ann Granger, Julie Teague, Paula Magee, Jerry Andrew Callaway, Bobbie Jack Callaway, Timmy Joe Callaway, and Robert Callaway, in the Hulbert Community. His father passed away when Kelly was five years old and he was raised by his stepfather, Herb Magee. He graduated from high school and then decided on career as a carpenter, working in the construction business. He married and began his family of three sons and two daughters, Kelly Joe, Wyatt Chandler, Brandon, Tammie and Lea Ann. Kelly loved race horses, and trained and exercised for years. He was a regular shade tree mechanic, working on cars every chance he got, fishing for bass and other game fish, and finish off the perfect day watching an old western like Gunsmoke or The Rifleman. Kelly liked collecting coins and knives, and watching NASCAR. He loved his children, he loved time spent with his grandchildren. Any chance to spend with his family was a good day. He was funny and loved to make his children smile. For all the plans he made in life, he finished his labors on July 16th, 2022 in Tahlequah, OK, at the age of 66 years.

Kelly is preceded in death by his grandparents, his father, mother, step father, one sister, Paula Magee and one brother, Robert Callaway.

Those left to cherish his memory include his children, Kelly Joe Callaway and wife Season of Tahlequah, OK, Wyatt Chandler Ford of Tahlequah, OK, Brandon Davis and wife Megan of Tahlequah, Tammie Harris of Tahlequah and Lee Ann Gordon of Tahlequah. His brothers and sisters include Jerry Andrew Callaway and wife Holly of Peggs, OK, Bobbie Jack Callaway of Tahlequah, Timmy Joe Callaway and wife Cathy of Woodall, OK, Ann Granger of Tahlequah, and Julie Teague and husband Frank of Tahlequah. He lives on through his four grandchildren, Sydni Callaway, Meilani Callaway, Anderson Callaway, and Brian Davis, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends and loved ones too numerous to mention.

Funeral Services for Kelly James Callaway will be held on Friday, July 22nd, 2022 at 10:00 AM at Reed-Culver Funeral Home with Pastor Allen Nevel officiating. His family will receive visitors on Thursday, July 21st beginning at 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Reed-Culver Funeral Home. He will be laid to rest at Hendricks Cemetery near Tahlequah, OK. Pallbearers for Kelly include Kenny Buchanan, Nate Scheu, Auden Carey, BJ Callaway, Charley Lamons, and Donald Trammel. His honorary pallbearers include Jr. Linch, Randy White, Frank Teague, Frank Randall, and Joe Mayfield.
