Kendra Nashelle Johnson was born on August 1st, 1980 in Tahlequah, OK, the daughter of William Patrick Johnson and Noma Elizabeth (Leep) Godwin. She graduated from high school in Tahlequah, playing the clarinet, trombone, and flute in the Tiger Band. Then she attended school at NSU obtaining her Bachelors in Criminal Justice degree. When she wasn’t working on her degree, she worked at Reasors and Sonic, loved to spend her free time drawing, reading, and doing beadwork, and running the roads of Cherokee County. If there was a stray animal anywhere, it would find a friend in Kendra, especially cats. She enjoyed the company of a special feline companion named Fluffy. She became the proud mother of her son, Hunter Alexander Suire. She adored him and couldn’t spend enough time with him. She introduced him to the joys of shopping at the Promenade Mall in Tulsa, and enjoyed just being together on one of their famous road trips. She was quiet and thoughtful, with a stubborn streak. She enjoyed being around people, even if only to watch the fun from a distance. Most of all, she loved being with her family, she loved them all dearly and was content just to spend the afternoon talking. She was a Baptist by faith, and went to her eternal rest on January 10th, 2018 in Tahlequah, OK. She was 37 years old. She leaves a void that can never be filled by any other.
She is preceded in death by her grandmother, Virginia Johnson, grandmother, Mary Imogene Campbell, grandfather, Thomas Fitzgerald Johnson, and grandfather James William Leep.
Those left to cherish her memory include her beloved son, Hunter of the home in Tahlequah, OK, her parents, Noma Elizabeth Godwin and her husband Plez of Tahlequah and William Patrick Johnson and wife Rose, also of Tahlequah. She leaves one brother and one sister, Shawn Johnson and wife Sandy of Hulbert, OK and Julie McCandless and husband Larry of Park Hill, OK. She leaves her two step brothers, Derek Godwin and wife Lista of Welling, OK and Justin Godwin of Tahlequah, OK. She has two nephews and one niece, Joshua Johnson and wife Shauntell of Kings Bay, GA, Mason McCandless of Park Hill, OK and Jayli McCandless also of Park Hill, as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of friends and loved ones.
