Welling, OK - Kenneth Jerrel Woods, Jr. passed from this life to his eternal rest on Tuesday, July 5th, 2016, at his home in Welling (Caney Ridge, near Lake Tenkiller). He was 63 years, 11 months, and 28 days old. He will be greatly missed. Kenneth was born on July 7th 1952, in Bakersfield, CA, the son of Jerrel and Patricia L. (Leighton) Woods, Sr.
At the age of two, Kenneth contracted infantile paralysis, later to be known as polio. His parents took him to Eugene, OR for treatment. Kenneth survived but had lost the use of one leg and partial use of the other; however he continued to walk with the help of a brace. In no way was Kenneth allowing this to shape his future plans. He was fiercely independent, and planned to remain that way. When he was younger, he enjoyed time spent fishing with his dad or doing a little boating. He loved traveling, and had managed to see quite a lot of the USA, and with his personality, he made friends wherever he went. He was friendly, kind- hearted and very loving. If he could help you in any way, consider it done. He liked to stretch back on the couch and watch NASCAR or the History Channel with his canine companion, Bear.
Ken later grew up in a blended family with Jerrel and Vivian Woods along with Randy, Robine, and Don.
Ken loved his son, Erick, and his wife Elizabeth, and his grandsons Erick, Seth, and Logan (step-grandson) and was always happy to hear from them, or follow up on their latest adventure.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents: Dick and Willie Woods and Jim and Evelyn Leighton; his mother: Pat; his uncles: John Woods and wife “Pick” and E. J. “Tiny” Woods and his wife, “Boodle”; Jerry Leighton, and Donny Leighton; his aunts: Claris and husband Jack Rich; and Wintfred and husband Ed Hunter, JoAnne (Patricia's sister) and husband Don Reed.
Those left to cherish his memory include his son Eric and wife Elizabeth and his grandsons, Erick, Seth, and Logan (step-grandson) of Redding, CA., and his father and step-mother, Jerrel and Jeannine Woods of Caney Ridge on Lake Tenkiller, as well as many cousins in California, Oklahoma and Kansas and a host of friends and loved ones.
