Wilburn Leon Sparks known to most as “Leon” began his journey down life’s highway on March 15, 1968 in Tahlequah, Ok the son of Wilburn and Verna Loudean (Spradlin) Sparks. Leon attended Tahlequah High School. During that time, he met the love of his life, Risa Davis at the at Tahlequah rodeo grounds. From then on they were inseparable. At the young age of 18, they both knew, they were made for each other and married on November 28, 1986 in Tahlequah, OK. Their marriage was blessed with six amazing children of which there are two sets of twins. Leon was a proud man that worked tirelessly to support his family as an independent truck driver. Whenever he could find a spare moment away from the trucks he could be found appreciating one of his many hobbies such as raising gaming cocks, setting on the bank dropping a line in his favorite fishing hole, hunting that elusive trophy buck, or taking a leisurely motorcycle, four-wheeler, or horseback ride with friends or family. Never one to shy away from work he would spend a lot of time in the garden or working on vehicles in the yard, he could fix just about anything. Leon was the kind of neighbor always willing to help anyone or just set on the porch and talk awhile, he had an amazing sense of humor and never missed a chance to share a laugh. Even though he genuinely liked people, two of his best friends were his fur babies Milo and Brutus. Leon was a family man, and it showed in his love for his wife and children, but his grandchildren truly stole his heart and all of his attention. The Lord called Leon home from Life’s highway on January 7, 2022 in Tahlequah, OK. He was an amazing man that always seemed to find the time for anyone that needed him, and will be missed by all that had the chance to know him.
Those that went before him include his dad, and his grandparents, Ora and Robert Sparks and Wilma and Walter Spradlin.
Left to remember the roads he traveled include his Wife Risa Sparks of the home, his mother, two sons, Kale Sparks and Kaden Sparks of Tahlequah, four daughters; Kourtney Sparks, Kimberly Sparks, Kayley Eubanks, and Kiley Sparks all of Tahlequah, two brothers Bert Osburn and wife Cassie of Tahlequah, and William Blaine of Tahlequah, three sisters Wilma Loving and husband Paul of Owasso, OK, Bliss Osburn of Tahlequah, OK, and Mandy Hathcoat.
