Lorene found great joy in the simple, meaningful things in life. She loved going to church and reading her Bible. She was a member of Boudinot Baptist Church. She enjoyed reading, sewing, and watching her favorite westerns. She also took great pride in sharing her heritage, and enjoyed teaching the Cherokee language to New Tribes Missionaries. Lorene also had a special love for butterflies, yellow roses, and her favorite color, yellow, which reflected her bright and gentle spirit.
On a nice warm day, you would find her sitting on her porch in her rocking chair, smiling and waving. She always had a kind smile on her face and a warm hug for you. She deeply cherished her family and especially loved time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as family gatherings filled with laughter and togetherness.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Stephen and Sallie Oosahwe; her brothers, Andy Oosahwe, Wilson Oosahwe, and Stephen Oosahwe; and her sister, Beatrice Oosahwe.
Lorene is survived by her daughter, Sallie Hicks; her son-in-law, Billy Hicks; her granddaughters, Chastity Hicks and Crystal Hicks; her great-granddaughter, Charity Hicks; her great-grandson, Trent Kennedy, and her sister, Katherine Oosahwe.
She had a kind, compassionate heart and was a blessing to everyone that knew her.
