Louella Ferrell

Welling, OK- Funeral services for Louella Ferrell will be held on Tuesday, March 1, 2011 at 2:00 PM at the Reed-Culver Chapel with Reverend Charles Duvall officiating. Interment will follow at Caney Cemetery. Services have been entrusted to Reed- Culver Funeral Home.

Pallbearers for Louella include Freddie Ferrell, Jimmy Ferrell, Justin Ferrell, Gregg Eddings, Joe Dougherty, and Larry McLemore. Honorary pallbearers will be Curtis Foreman, Justin Scott, and Scott DeCamp.

Louella Ferrell was born on November 13, 1921 in Wauhilla, OK the daughter of George Washington and Annie Mae (Willis) Sanders, original Dawes Enrollees. She married Sam G. Ferrell in 1941 in Welling, OK and together they raised seven children in the Welling area. Louella was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She never forgot a birthday or special event in their lives. She loved to get together to celebrate the holidays , especially the 4th of July, where she made homemade strawberry ice cream. She was an avid gardener and raised beautiful flowers and vegetables. She and the children and grandchildren often went on outings to scout for wild onions ,huckleberries and blueberries. She was talented with crafts such as crocheting and beadwork. Louella carried on the family tradition of keeping the geneology records for all the births and deaths, a tradition kept by her family to this day. A Baptist by faith, she attended the Caney General Baptist Church. The Lord called Louella to her heavenly home on Friday, February 25, 2011 at her home in Welling with her family at her side. She was eighty-nine years old. Her sweet smile will be greatly missed by her family and many friends.

Louella is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Sam, who passed in 1998, one daughter, Susie Ferrell, three sisters, Pearl, Barbara Ann, and Jewel, and one brother, J.N. Sanders.

Those left to cherish her memory include her six loving children, Gene Ferrell and wife Lowee of Rocky Mountain, OK, Leona Ferrell of Caney, OK, Alene Eddings and husband Tommy of Lost City, OK, Jim Ferrell and companion Sherry Kimble of Tahlequah, OK, Roy “Bud” Ferrell and wife Louella of Tahlequah, OK, and Linda “Faye” Pritchett and husband Louie of Welling, OK. Her legacy lives on in her ten grandchildren, Freddie Ferrell, Lajuana DeCamp, Tonya Foreman, Jimmy Ferrell, Anna Marie Eddings, Stacy Dougherty, Teresa McLemore, Gregg Eddings, Jaime Brown, and Cindy Scott. She is survived by fourteen great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, many nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends and loved ones.
