Alice Mae Lucille (Shepherd) Oosahwe, or Lucille to her family and friends, was born on February 24, 1955 in Bartlesville, OK, the daughter of Cletus A. and Della Rebecca “Becky” (Davis) Shepherd. She grew up in a household with five brothers and four sisters, Billy, Delbert, Brian, William, Alfred, Bertha, Betty Jo, Linda and Angela. She was raised in the Etta Bend school district and called Tahlequah her home for her entire lifetime. She met and married the love of her life, Larry Dean Oosahwe, together they enjoyed years of memories and raised a family of one son, Larry Jr. and one daughter, Amanda. There was nothing Lucille loved more than being a wife, mother and grandmother. She loved keeping house and feeding her family. She was an accomplished seamstress and made ribbon skirts and costumes. In her younger years, she loved using Blowguns in competition. She was always in the company of her canine companions, a pair of Pug dogs that answered to the names of Bebe and Mr. Wiggles. She never missed a chance to listen to “Tradewinds” on the local radio station and watching a classic western like “Gunsmoke” and “Rawhide”. Whenever there was some free time, she loved gathering her family and heading toward Paradise Cove at Sequoyah State Park, and doing a little fishing, swimming and camping. She never tired of being with her grandchildren, just to play a game or spend some quality time with them, supporting them in all their school activities. She loved to proclaim the love of Jesus, and never missed the chance to worship Him at the Lighthouse Church. Anytime there was a gospel singing, you could bet Lucille would be there. She was a happy person, who shared her smile readily and was content with the view of the world from her own backyard, it was perfect. For all the plans she had in life, the Lord called this hard working daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, and grandmother home from her many labors on February 14th, 2023 at her home in Tahlequah, surrounded by the family she adored. She was 67 years old. She will be greatly missed by those who knew her.
She is preceded in death by her grandparents, her mother and father, one brother, William Edmond Shepherd, two sisters, Linda Marie Shepherd and Angela Emaline Fuson, two nephews, Eric Ben Shepherd and Bradley Jacob Ragsdale, and one niece, Pamela Jo Richmond.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband Larry Oosahwe of the home in Tahlequah, and her children, Amanda Oosahwe of Tahlequah, OK, and Larry Oosahwe Jr and wife Lily of Tahlequah, OK.
