Mary Louise Morgan Boston was born on January 17, 1926, in Preston, OK, the daughter of Jessie James and Francis Viola (Ford) Morgan. She grew up in a household with five brothers and four sisters, Harold Morgan, Jessie Morgan, Bill Morgan, Richard Morgan, Bobby Morgan, Dorothy Cardinal, Geneva Adams, Viola Irene Brown, and Wilma Taylor. She attended school until the second grade, and then at the age of 14, she married Lee E. Boston. They were married in 1940, during the outbreak of WWII. Lee was gone the next four years fighting overseas. Upon returning home, they set up housekeeping in the Hulbert community. When she turned 27, her sister, Dorothy Cardinal passed away quite young leaving two daughters and a son. Mary and Lee took the children into their home and raised Lloyd, Mary Lou and Della as their very own. Mary and Lee loved the Hulbert area and considered everyone their friends and neighbors. Mary was a lifetime member of the Hulbert Church of Christ. She was always out doors, working in her flower and vegetable gardens. The vegetables were canned to make some of her really special meals in the winter. Out of Mary’s kitchen came some of the most wonderful pork chop dinners, fried chicken, chicken and dumpling dinners, and there was always a place at the table for anyone that should stop by. Every Halloween, Mary would go to the kitchen and make some of the best homemade popcorn balls and fudge you ever ate. One year she handed out over 200 popcorn balls, made only as Mary could and with a lot of love. She was gifted with a needle and did beautiful embroidery and could sew a dress without a pattern. She had a warm heart and a smile that would make you feel welcome and a great sense of humor to go with it. She loved her family and every great nieces and nephew were as precious to her as grandchildren, she adored them all, and was so very proud of all their accomplishments. Lee passed form this life in 1999. Mary kept working and spending time with her family and friends until she was no longer able to. She moved to Wagoner to be closer to family. The Lord called this good and faithful servant home from her labors on Saturday, April 28th, 2018 in Wagoner, OK, with her family by her side. She was 92 years old and will be greatly missed.
She is preceded in death by her mother, father, nephew and son, Lloyd Cardinal, grandparents and all of her brothers and sisters.
Those left to cherish her memory include two nieces, more adored as daughters, Mary Lou Holder and husband Larry of Wagoner, OK, and Della Rogers and husband Marvin of Tahlequah, OK. She leaves many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins and a host of friends and loved ones.
