Nancy Jane Fowler Hall was born on March 13th, 1933 in a log cabin, Welling, OK, the daughter of Harvey Eugene and Helen Galela (Brackett) Fowler. She attended school and graduated from Bagley High School in 1952. She married George Hicks Jr. and began a family with the birth of her daughter, Deborah. After graduating high school, Nancy continued her education and obtained her Masters degree in Education at Northeastern State College. She taught in Briggs, Las Vegas, Verdegris and finally the last 22 years in Inola, OK, retiring in 1989. Her first husband was a contractor that built houses. It is estimated that the family moved 30 odd times, living in one home, while the next one was being built. After this marriage dissolved, she met and married Dean Davidson in 1964, and together they would have a son, Jeffrey. Nancy was always busy, sewing school clothes and Barbie clothes for her daughter, and later Halloween costumes for her grandchildren. She also enjoyed crafting after her retirement and doted on her rat terrier, Levi. There was nothing she liked better than time spent with her grandchildren, she was delighted with all the things they had to share with her. Friday nights, she liked to go play Bingo and then later, go to the casino to spend a little time. One of her favorite things was going out for breakfast or dinner with her son, Jeff. She loved time spent at Chouteau Senior Citizen Center, talking to everyone and catching up on the latest. Her grandkids would tell you that every time they would visit, she would have snacks of zebra cakes and kool-aid ready for them. For breakfast, each burner on the stove would be full, because she would make each child’s favorite breakfast dish. After breakfast, she would have the oven going with some delicious mini pizzas that simply hit different. She was kind, patient, and had an inviting smile that made you feel at home. She was giving and would do anything to help those she loved. A Christian by faith, she was a member of the Parkview Missionary Baptist Church. She enjoyed the old gospel favorites. The Lord called this hard working woman home from her labors on June 23rd, 2021 after reaching the age of 88 years. She will be missed so very much by everyone who knew her.
She is preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Mige and Jane (Batt) Brackett, her paternal grandparents, Joseph and Thursey Fowler, her Mother and Daddy.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Deborah Couch and husband Lloyd of Chouteau, OK and her son, Jeffrey Davidson of the home in Chouteau.
