
TAHLEQUAH, OK- Funeral services for Nel Nottingham will be held on Tuesday, January 18th, 2011 at 11:00 AM at the Reed-Culver Funeral Home with Reverend Brandon Stratton officiating. Interment will follow at the Tahlequah City Cemetery. Reed- Culver Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation for Nel will be on Monday, January 17th, 2011 from noon until 6:00 PM.
Nel Merle Nottingham was born on June 5th, 1924 in Tulsa, OK the daughter of Wayne and Eunice (Eaton) Miller. In 1973, she married Gerald W. Nottingham in West Tulsa. Nel was a loving wife and mother. In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening and yard work. She was a talented decorator and was an equally talented crafter. She was a wonderful cook and made the best chicken and dumplings. She loved nature and fed hundreds of hummingbirds over the years. Time spent with Nel was sure to make anyone feel happy. She was always cheerful and upbeat. She was a friend to many and would do anything to help those she met along life’s way. A Christian by faith, Nel attended Calvary Assembly of God Church in Tahlequah. The Lord called Nel to her heavenly home on January 14th, 2011 in Tahlequah with her family at her side. She was eighty-six years old.
Nel is preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, John, Sam, and Wayne Miller and four sisters, Gladys Brighton, Sue Lofton, Maxine Cook, and Sis Early.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband Gerald of the home, two sons and one daughter, Donnie Wayne Nottingham and wife Carol of Owasso, OK, Charlie Nottingham and companion Bette Denham of Tulsa, OK, and Chris Scott and her husband Craig of Tulsa, OK. She leaves behind one brother and sister, Max Miller and wife Donna of St. Louis, MO, and Maudie Owens of Spiro, OK. Her legacy lives on in her four adored grandchildren, Jamie, Shannon, Jennifer, and Deone, as well as many great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends and loved ones.
