Born and raised around Clay Center, Kansas, Reggie played the trumpet in the school band and later attended Kansas State University. Reggie went on to spend many years behind the wheel driving trucks for Oklahoma Southern, Schneider, Trucks for You, Cannon Express, and JB Hunt.
Reggie met his wife, Patricia, at the Sawdust Club in Briggs, Oklahoma. Together they built a life full of road trips, yard sales, OU football, and camping adventures out West. Jackson Hole, Wyoming, was their favorite place, but he also loved Montana and the wide-open spaces of Wyoming.
Reggie was a big fan of old-school country music, especially Toby Keith, Hank Williams Jr., and Willie Nelson; and he never passed up a good Western with John Wayne or Sam Elliott. When football season rolled around, he was the best supporter OU had! He loved the view from his own backyard, tinkering with his ’59 Chevy, and striking up conversations with strangers who didn’t stay strangers for long. He never read much philosophy, but he had one favorite philosopher: his daughter. She taught him one phrase he never stopped using: “Because I can.” A Christian by faith, Reggie was raised in the Lutheran Church.
Reggie is preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Esther Riechers and grandparents, William and Minnie Riechers and Carl and Christine Rodick; and his longtime friend, Lon Colton.
