Roger Mack Quinton was born April 2, 1951 in Tahlequah, OK to Nathanuel “Buddy” and Geneva Marie (Davis) Quinton. He grew up with two brothers and three sisters, Lee David, Billy Jack, Reta Sue, Darla June, and Debbie Kay. He attended and graduated from high school in Tahlequah, OK. During his lifetime, he loved sports and excelled at many of them from playing baseball (he threw a 98-mph fastball), to coaching softball and baseball, playing ping pong, shooting pool, bowling, and training race horses. His horse training talent led him to win the Hopes and Dreams Futurity with Kat Kitaman in 1985. He loved to tell a good story, and was a big Elvis Presley fan, mastering his Elvis impersonation every opportunity he had. He loved to debate any topic and was knowledgeable about many topics and very adept at communicating his views. He was an excellent musician and artisan who created beautiful crafts with his hands. He loved classic cars and restoring them. He was a skilled carpenter and could perform a full restoration on any type of structure. He was definitely a fix it guy and always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need. Roger was the proud father of one son and three daughters, David, Dondi, Deanna, and Diamond, and was blessed with many grandchildren. His children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were his pride and joy and he would always do anything he could to help them. Roger never met a stranger, was a true friend, good to everyone he met, loving, kind, and generous with his time and talents. He enjoyed traveling and spending time with family. He was a key musician in many groups throughout his lifetime and there wasn’t an instrument he couldn’t play. A Christian by faith, he loved the Lord and served him. The Lord called him home from his many labors on January 27, 2022, in Tulsa, OK. He was 70 years old and will be greatly missed by his family and friends. The world is a little quieter without his stories, lessons about life, and knowledge of various topics.
He is preceded in death by his grandmother, Ruby “Granny” Fuller and his father, Buddy Quinton.
He is survived by his mother, Geneva Marie Quinton, children David Quinton of Tahlequah, OK, Dondi Gladd and husband Larry of Tahlequah, OK, Deanna Emerson and husband Shane of Broken Arrow, OK, and Diamond Thomison and husband Casey of Stilwell, OK.
