Ronnita "Sissy" Jean McLemore-Bluebird

Ronnita Jean “Sissy” McLemore-Bluebird was born on July 17th, 1964 in Tahlequah, OK, daughter of Ronald and Juanita (Drywater) McLemore. She grew up with her two brothers, Ronald and Darwin Blake. After finishing high school, she began her studies at Bacon College earning two associate degrees in Business Management, Criminal Justice and her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. Ronnita loved her job and especially those that she worked with at the Cherokee Nation Child Development Program. She met Dennis Joe Bluebird and it was love at first sight. They were married on June 6th, 1987 in Tahlequah, OK. They were blessed with 36 years of happy memories, adventures great and small, and best of all, their three children, Thomas, Joshua, and Jessica. Sissy was the devoted daughter, wife, mother and grandmother, as well as aunt, cousin and best friend. She was always happy to be around her children and grandchildren, watching them play sports and the many dinners they shared on Sundays. She enjoyed her game shows and watching Dennis play ball but he had to make sure she was back home on Sunday for church which she attended at Johnson Prairie Baptist Church. More of her hobbies were hiking, watching Thunder Basketball, spoiling her dogs and watching the thunderstorms and rain at all hours of the day. Serving the families entrusted to her care and watching her grandchildren grow was very special for Sissy. A Christian by faith, the Lord called this kind and faithful servant home from her many labors on September 19th, 2023, at the age of 59 years old. She leaves a vacant chair that can never be filled.

She is preceded in death by her grandparents, her mother and father, and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband Dennis Joe Bluebird of the home in Tahlequah, and her three children, Thomas Martin McLemore and companion Vanessa Gourd, Joshua Daniel Bluebird and companion Sarah Hawk and Jessica Denise O’Field and husband Sonny O’Field all of the Tahlequah community. She leaves her brothers, Ronald McLemore and spouse Mary Yazzie of Tahlequah and Darwin “Blake” McLemore and spouse Linda Kizzia of Ft. Gibson, OK. She lives on in her two grandchildren, Riley Bluebird and Jaxtyn Bluebird, as well as bonus grandkids, nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends and loved ones too numerous to mention.

Funeral services for Ronnita Jean McLemore-Bluebird will be held on Saturday, September 23rd, 2023 at 1:00 PM at Johnson Prairie Baptist Church with Reverend Jason Gann officiating.

Pallbearers for Ronnita include Christian Vance, Larry “Barney” Vance, Archie “Bubba Roo” Vance, Tim McLemore, Stuart Washington, and Paul Walker. Her honorary pallbearers include Blake McLemore, Ronald McLemore, Sonny O’Field, Blue Grimmett, Memphis Drywater and William Wolf.

Her family will receive guests on Friday, September 22nd, 2023 at Reed-Culver Funeral Home from 1:30 PM until 5:00 PM. She will be laid to rest at New Hope Cemetery. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.reedculver.com for the McLemore-Bluebird family.
