Sa-Lo-I worked most of his life as a farm laborer at Mid-Western Nursery. In this life, there were many things that brought a smile to his face; one was helping at the Cookson Senior Citizen Center. He would go in early to make coffee and help set things up; he enjoyed seeing each person walk through the door. When he moved into the nursing home, he worried about them, hoping someone was making the coffee. Another smile was a good family get together, especially the holidays where he would try to sneak off with a jar full of his sister’s Kanuchi. His favorite holiday by far was Memorial Day because he would get to see his uncle Rufus, Aunt Elaine and the kids from St. Louis, MO. Sa-Lo-I was proud to be a First Language speaker and grew up in the Barber community. But the biggest smile on his face came from spending time with his special lady Jody, doing jig-saw puzzles, and when his health permitted, taking long walks with her and his special fur baby “Biscuit”. Sa-Lo-I placed his faith in Jesus Christ and was a member of Barber Baptist Church. He was a kind and caring man that will be missed by his family, friends, and loved ones.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Tom and Lugie Bearpaw Fixin, mother, Birdie Fixin Campbell, brother, Billy Campbell, stepbrothers, Waite, Wesley, and Archie Campbell, and a special aunt that helped raise him, Louise Fixin Cameron.
