Tommie Earl Deckard

Tahlequah, OK- Funeral Service for Tommie Earl Deckard, will be held 10:00 AM Wednesday, October 9th, 2013 at Reed-Culver Funeral Chapel with Brother Jimmy Briggs officiating. Interment will follow at Ross Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Reed-Culver on Tuesday, October 8th, 2013 from 10:00 AM until 8:00 PM. Pallbearers will be Danny Deckard, Jimmy Washington, Mark Washington, Jerry Hastings, Jerry Hammons, and Edward Deckard. Honorary Pallbearers will be Wayne Kindell, Kyle Willige, Chris Asher, Fred Easter, and Junior Lynch. Services have been entrusted to Reed-Culver Funeral Home of Tahlequah.

Tommie Earl Barnett was born on September 20th, 1935 in Welling, OK, the son of Luther and Edna Mae (Davis) Deckard. On March 10th of 1963 he married Sue Pack and they began a life journey that would bring him great joy. Tommie enjoyed spending his days horseback riding, coon hunting and gardening with the mules. He was a great man and loved to have fun at other people’s expense. Tommie worked 30 years as an electrician for Hammons Electric and then 20 years for Tahlequah Public Schools where he retired. His wife, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren brought great joy into his life. Tommie passed from this life on October 4th, 2013 in Tahlequah, OK at the age of 78.

He is preceded in death by his parents, a grandson, Dustin Lee “Buster” Deckard, a sister, Nancy Deckard, and four brothers, Frank, Edward, Arnie, and James Deckard.

Those left to cherish his memories include his wife Sue Deckard of the home; two sons: Tommy Glen Deckard of Tahlequah, Darrell Wayne Deckard and wife Yvonne of Briggs; a daughter: Mae Jean Edmisten and husband Rick of Keys; three brothers: John Deckard and wife Alisha of Moody, OK, William Deckard and wife Joyce of Tahlequah, OK, Rick Deckard and wife Connie of Boudinot, OK; four sisters: Edith Christie of Welling, OK, Nellie Matlock and husband Loyd of Etta Bend, OK, Glenda Hodge and husband Ralph of Welling, OK, Janice Washington of Tahlequah, OK; a grandson: Kevin Southard of the home; seven granddaughters: Stacey Asher and husband Chris of Wagoner, OK, Amber Willige and husband Kyle of Tahlequah, OK, Heather Deckard of Briggs, OK, Brittany Deckard of Wagoner, OK, Emily Deckard of Tahlequah, OK, Samantha Deckard of Tahlequah, OK, Rosa Garcia of Tahlequah, OK; four great grandchildren: Colten and Heath Asher of Wagoner, Kaydence Willige of Tahlequah, OK, Halana Ruzo of Tahlequah, OK and a host of other family and loved ones.
