Tommy J. Powell

Tommy Joe Powell Sr. was born to Clayton and Zora (Cupp) Powell in Claremore, OK on November 28, 1948. He departed this life in Rocky Ford, OK on October 15, 2010 at the age of 61 years 10 months and 17 days.

Tommy enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching sports, carving and drawing. He was a very good artist both drawing and carving. He would carve canes and long bows. He also enjoyed dirt bikes in his younger years and was known to ride his dirt bike to go fishing. Tommy loved his family and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Tommy was preceded in death by his parents; 1 brother: Eugene Kerns and 2 sisters: Linda Powell and Leona Blossom.

He is survived by his wife Jeannie Powell of the home; 1 son: Tommy Powell Jr. and wife Melissa of Oaks; 1 daughter: Julienne Sanders and husband David of Oaks; 2 step-sons: Frank Grogan and wife Stephanie of Colcord and Matt Grogan and wife Amy of Proctor; 2 brothers: Leon Blossom and wife Trish of Chelsea and Bobby Powell and wife Birdie of Foyil; 1 sister Treba Osburn of Pryor; 3 grandchildren, 5 step-grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Many nieces, nephews, friends and other relatives also survive him.

Funeral Service will be held 2:00 P.M. Tuesday October 19, 2010 at the Reed-Culver Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Don Marshall officiating. Interment will follow at the Oaks Cemetery in Oaks, OK under the Direction of Reed-Culver Funeral Home. Please sign our online guestbook at www.reedculver.com
