Troy Edward Jordan was born on November 8th, 1923 in Cherokee County, OK the son of Eslie Henry and Cora Clistia (Matthews) Jordan. Troy was raised around Cherokee County and attended school in Mourn Chapel and Manard schools. He began working for H.B. Egan Manufacturing in Muskogee on September 3rd, 1943, a position he held until his retirement forty four years later. On July 31, 1944, he married the love of his life, Ruby Jewel Sanders at the Court House in Muskogee. Their honeymoon found them both at work on the night shift at Egans. This began their lives of companionship and hard work together. This union would be blessed with two sons, Alvin and Melvin. Troy was not one to sit down at the end of the days work. He would return home to raise cattle and work in the garden. He never met a stranger and could often be found on his tractor brush hogging, tilling, plowing, and digging water lines for his neighbors. A gifted welder, Troy would spend Friday night at the Muskogee Stock Car Races welding on the race cars. When he did have leisure time, you could find Troy indulging in hunting, fishing, camping, scuba diving, skiing, and dune buggies with his best friends in the world, his children and grandchildren. All of the family as well as the neighborhood children knew a trip to Troy and Ruby’s house meant go carts, mini bikes, and three wheelers gased up, tires patched and ready for the trails that Troy had mapped out in the yard and pastures. Troy was a Christian by faith, and the Lord called Troy to his heavenly home on February 27, 2011 in Muskogee, OK with his family at his side. He was eighty five years old. The smile and wonderful laugh will be greatly missed by all those fortunate enough to call him friend.
Troy is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Eslie and John Henry Jordan, and two sisters, Ethel Gilliam and Bessie O’Dell.
Those left to cherish Troy’s memory include his loving wife, Ruby of the home. He leaves two sons and their families, Alvin Jordan and family of Muskogee, OK and Melvin Jordan and family of Park Hill, two daughters-in-law, Melba Jordan and Sherrie Jordan. His legacy lives on in his six adored grandchildren, Brett Jordan, Kimberly Barnett, Thomas Jordan, Sarah Geary, Melvin Jordan, and Elizabeth Hinton. He also leaves eleven great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren, one sister, Myrtle Fausett of Muskogee, OK, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends and loved ones.
