Trucella Marez, or Jane to her family and friends, was born November 21st, 1938, in Tahlequah, OK, the daughter of Garland Joe and Enona Nadine (Witt) Shirrel. She grew up three brothers and two sisters, Dorothy “Pete”, Bob, Jim, Mary Lou, and Danny. She attended and graduated from school and relocated to California to begin a new chapter in her life. Jane was to break boundaries by becoming a pioneer in the entertainment industry as a World Champion Lady Wrestler, both in the United States and Japan. She began her studies under the renowned Mary Ellison, professionally known as the Fabulous Moolah. Jane became known as “Hatfield Hattie”, and her showmanship was unsurpassed. She was very family oriented and so very proud of her two daughters, Pamela and Jackie. On April 10th, 1964, Jane married Arcadio Delgado Marez in Newhall, CA. Together they raised their family and enjoyed life to the fullest. When she wasn’t working, Jane was ready to go to the nearest fishing spot for a little rest and a chance to catch the big one. There was no driving past the nearest garage sale, and crossword puzzles were a weakness. She loved making her daughters and grandchildren her famous homemade donuts and her Mexican food was fantastic. She adored her grandchildren, shopping in the mall with her granddaughter, Bobbie and time spent at Elder Care catching up on the latest news. She had the most wonderful sense of humor and loved to make people laugh, it was her gift. She was a strong willed woman and kept the family first, and foremost, they were her world. Her beloved Arcadio passed away in 1999, yet there were no complaints. Jane carried on, just as she always had. She made it mission to help anyone that needed her and asked. It was yours if she had it. She possessed the brightest smile and the kindest eyes. Her health grew weak and she passed from this life on March 18th, 2022 in Tahlequah, OK, surrounded by those who knew and loved her. She was 83 years old and will be missed.
She is preceded in death by her grandparents, her mother and father, her daughter, Pamela Joey Buster and husband John, her husband Arcadio, two brothers, Jim Shirrel and Danny Shirrel, two sisters, Dorothy Garner and Mary Lou Plank. She also joins her son-in-law, Darryl Straub, grandson-in-law, Kevin Haws, and grandson, Sean Dustin Straub.
Those left to celebrate her life include her daughter, Jackie Straub of Tahlequah, and her brother, Bob Shirrel and wife Ida of Gideon, OK. There are three grandchildren, Bobbie Jane Haws of Muskogee, OK, Chadd Lucas Straub of Tahlequah, OK, and Andy Joe Hodges of Tahlequah, OK. She will live on in her great and great great grandchildren, Johnny and Whitney, Brandi and Mick, Trenton, Maci, Paisley, Macey, Rosie, Ellicia, Elaina, Kingston, Bentley, Baylea, Chandler, Kanaan, and Axl, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends and loved ones too numerous to mention.
