Winnie Mae Vann

BUNCH-OK- Funeral services for Winnie Mae Twist-Vann will be held on Wednesday, June 29th, 2011 at 2:00 PM at the New Baptist Church of Bunch, OK with Reverend Teddy Qualls officiating. Interment will follow at South Bunch Cemetery. Services have been entrusted to Reed-Culver Funeral Home of Tahlequah.

Pallbearers for Winnie include Ricky Duvall, Jody Vann, Thomas Duvall, Junior Duvall, Marty Wilson, and John Duvall. Honorary pallbearers will be her grandsons along with Dexter Vann, Mike Olive, and Jim Thomas. Flower girls will be Beth Wilson, Rikki Duvall, Brianna Duvall, Kay Duvall, Lora Turner and Alisha Vaughn. Honorary flower girls will be Winnie’s granddaughters.

Winnie Mae Vann was born on June 15, 1930 in Bunch, OK the daughter of Charles and Nannie (Fox) Twist. She attended school in Wyandotte, OK at the Seneca Indian School. On November 1st, 1948, she married her husband , Dirthrower Vann in Bunch, OK. This union was blessed with eight children. Winnie worked as a Teacher’s Assistant in the Greasy School System for forty eight years. When she wasn’t working, Winnie kept busy raising gardens, canning, sewing for her family and fishing. Winnie was a wonderful cook and enjoyed preparing meals to share with her family and friends. A Baptist by faith, Winnie was a faithful member of the New Baptist Church of Bunch, OK. The Lord called Winnie to her eternal rest on June 25th, 2011. She was eighty one years old. She will be missed by her many family and friends and the young lives she shaped in school.

Winnie is preceded in death by her husband Dirthrower and two great grandsons, Noah Vogt and Aydyn Harrington.

Winnie is survived by her four sons and four daughters, Roger Vann and wife Susan of Bunch, OK, D.J. Vann and wife Kim of Roland, OK, Jim Vann and wife Rhonda of Westville, OK, Gary Vann and wife Raylene of Bunch, OK, Doris Shell and husband Charlie of Bunch, OK, Linda Wilson and husband Glen of Bunch, OK, Carnella Beaver of Bunch, OK, and Terri Dawn Beaver of Bunch, OK. Her legacy lives on in her twenty six grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren and a host of friends and loved ones.
