

Bob grew up in the suburbs of Philadelphia, PA and graduated from West Chester High School and the University of Pennsylvania (B.S. in Civil Engineering,1952). In 1957 he served six months of active duty in the U.S. Army Reserves and shortly after married Barbara Seifert in Pittsburgh, PA. He was employed as a civil engineer for the Pennsylvania Railroad in Baltimore, Pittsburgh, and Cleveland for a decade and then pursued his MS in Transportation Engineering and Urban Planning at North Carolina State University. In 1963 he began working at a Tallahassee engineering consulting firm that became Barr, Dunlop & Associates in 1969. His primary area of expertise was the development of long-range transportation plans for urban areas. He retired in 1995.
Bob took private pilot training for work travel initially, completing requirements for instrument, private land and sea ratings. He joined the Civil Air Patrol in 1999 as a 1st Lt, advancing to the rank of Lt Col. He served as a Mission Pilot for 15 years. Bob was a member of the Tallahassee Rotary Club for 19 years and also volunteered in operations at the Red Hills International Horse Trials Cross Country for 21 years. Bob was a member of Faith Presbyterian Church for 55 years, serving as Sunday school teacher, deacon, and elder.
Bob’s 65 years of wonderful marriage with his devoted and loving wife Barbara included surviving family of four beloved daughters: Karen Dunlop Feder (Brett), Kimberly Dunlop Arata (Dr. Alan, PhD, Lt Col, USAF Ret), Gretchen Dunlop Hummer (Steven Sr), and Kristin Dunlop Bamman (John). He had eight beloved grandchildren: Bryce Arthur Arata, Ryan Arata (Anna); Lauren Feder, Lindsey Feder, Bailey Marzitelli (1st Lt Jaron, USAF) and Brooke Hall (Grant); and Magnus and Charlie Bamman. He was blessed with one great grandson, Griffin Arata. Bob was predeceased by his wife Barbara and his parents Sara and Arthur Roberts Dunlop Sr. of Philadelphia, PA.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, February 8th at Culley’s MeadowWood Funeral Home & Memorial Park at 700 Timberlane Road, Tallahassee, Florida.
