

She was born in Tory, North Carolina on June 3, 1936. Barbara graduated from Troy High School and received an accounting degree from Women’s College in Greensboro, North Carolina.
She was married to Robert V Robertson Sr on September 7, 1957.
Barbara worked for Troy Furniture Co until her marriage. She is a life member of the Presbyterian Woman’s Organization. Barbara had a passion for bridge, sewing, golf, reading and volunteering.
She is survived by husband Robert V Robertson, sons Robert V Robertson, Jr (Virginia) of Tallahassee, Michael Robertson (Carole) of Tallahassee, grand children, Justin Robertson (Meredith), Stephanie Robertson Kimmel (Jon) of Oklahoma, Diana Robertson of Tallahassee, Joan Robertson of Tallahassee, and sister Janice Cranford Creed of North Carolina. In addition, she is also survived by her many grand nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father James W Cranford, Sr, mother Bessie Ruth Cranford of Laurinburg, North Carolina and brother James W Cranford, Jr of Carrolton, Georgia.
She married her husband Robert (Bob) while he was a senior at NC State College majoring in Civil Engineering. Upon his graduation, he took a job with the US Department of Transportation that moved them all over the South and where they met many new people. She became a very active member in the Newcomers clubs. She loved people and made many lasting friends. They finally settled in Tallahassee in 1973, coming from Nashville, Tennessee. Barbara was a great stay at home mom who reared two wonderful sons, Robert and Mike. During her life in Tallahassee, she did a vast amount of volunteer work and Newcomers. She was docent at the Knott House and Governor’s Mansion and served as chairman for the Tallahassee Open for all the lady volunteers. She always put her family first and would always have get togethers for all kinds of celebrations. She began the family tradition of having family and special friends and neighbors for homemade donuts for Thanksgiving. Christmas was always a big breakfast for the family with presents exchanged. These traditions are carried on by her children and grandchildren.
Barbara’s first love in life was Jesus Christ. In following close behind was her family. She was very active in church work and spent 34 years as the volunteer when she was a member of the Fellowship Presbyterian Church. She was active in the Emaus community and worked in various positions in the Walk. One of her greatest joys in life was when was her sister and her went on a Christian tour of the holy land through Jordan and Israel. She brought a bottle of water from the Jordan River and this was used for baptism for all of her grandchildren. She said, “She was so high from this trip, she could probably walk on water.”
Throughout her life, she was always of strong faith, was a heartfelt women with a beautiful heart towards all others she has passed onto her family members and all others. She will be missed by all.
