Beth was born, along with her brother Ben, on July 8, 1959 in Dallas, Texas. She was fortunate to have lived in many places while growing up including Texas, California, Alaska and Colorado. Her family loved to travel and they visited almost all of the fifty states as well as many countries in Europe and Asia.
After graduating high school in Evergreen, Colorado, Beth attended college on a volleyball scholarship. She graduated from East Texas State University with a BBA in 1981. She then worked as an oil and gas accountant in Dallas, Texas and Vancouver, Washington before returning to school.
Beth earned her Master's in Forestry in 1994 and began working for the Florida Forest Service in 1995. Early in her career she served as a Forester, Environmental Specialist, and Environmental Manager in the Suwannee District. When she retired in February 2016, after twenty-one years of service, she was as a Senior Management Analyst Supervisor in the Director's Office.
