He was predeceased by his son Bill “Cleve” Laird, III, of Crawfordville, Florida; and his parents, Bill C. Laird, Sr. and Clora Mae Gray Laird of Crawfordville, Florida; and two sisters, Oline Reeves, of Tallahassee and Ethelle Robinson of Crawfordville, Florida.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Mildred Evone Laird, of Crawfordville, Florida; his daughter, Carol Laird Perkins (John Williams); two granddaughters, Amanda Jones (Will), and Amber Perkins (Dakota Rhodes), of Crawfordville, Florida; one grandson, James Paul Laird (Lowell, Oregon); four great grandchildren, Landon and Bennett Jones and Emma Moody of Crawfordville, Florida, and Chloe Laird of Lowell, Oregon; four sisters, Cathy Roberts, of Crawfordville, Marian Roberts (Delbert), of Catlett, Virginia, Loretta Lawrence (Alton), of Crawfordville, Louise Henderson (Mike), of Sopchoppy; two brothers, James “Jimmy” Laird (Gail), of Crawfordville, and Tony Laird (MaryAnn), of Crawfordville; and many nieces and nephews, in-laws, cousins and friends and will be missed by all.
Bill was a graduate of Crawfordville High School and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. He was a Vietnam War Veteran and a purple heart recipient. Bill retired from the U.S. Postal Services in 2000. He was a true hero and spent his free time with his family doing what he loved, fishing, hunting, cooking outdoors and tinkering in his shed.
Graveside services will be held Friday, November 19, 2021 at 2pm at New Light Church Cemetery, 480 New Light Church Road, Crawfordville, Florida 32327.
