Burma Strickland Trawick

Burma Strickland Trawick, 91, died Thursday, December 13, 2012, surrounded by loving family.

The service will be at 3 p.m. EDT on Monday, December 17, at First Baptist Church, with burial at Oakland Cemetery. Family will receive visitors one hour before the service at the church. Burma was born in 1921 in Riversink, Florida, in the Crawfordville area, and spent nearly all her life residing in Tallahassee. She went to Leon High School, and was a faithful member of First Baptist Church for 60 years. She was a homemaker and also worked many years as a keypunch operator for the State of Florida. Burma was a devoted and caring wife to her husband of 40 years, DeWitt Trawick, who was the co-owner of Mutt & Jeff' s restaurant. After DeWitt's passing, Burma particularly enjoyed the close company and comfort of her daughter Diane and the rest of her family. Time with her great-grandchildren Katherine, Caroline Diane, Julia and Andrew DeWitt Cox were a special joy in the last few years.

She was preceded in death by her husband DeWitt Trawick; by her daughter, Diane Cox; and by her son, Roy Simmons.

She is survived by her sister, Doris (and Max) Davis of Crawfordville; daughter, Jeanne Byrns (and Irvin Cirks) of Panama City; daughter, Joan (and Don) Spitzer of Pendleton, Oregon; grandson, Kevin (and Jenni) Cox of Tallahassee, granddaughter, Victoria (and William) Barwick of Bayou George, Florida, grandson Larry (and Miriam) Byrns of Austin, Texas; granddaughter Kelly (and Mike) Davis of Bayou George, Florida, granddaughter, Teresa (and Jim) Landreth of Boardman, Oregon, grandson, Elmer (and Tammy) Dickens of Carlton, Oregon, grandson, Roy (and Florence) Simmons of Buckeye, Arizona, granddaughter, Shandra Heaslip of Buckeye, Arizona, granddaughter, Stephanie (and Beto) Rayna of Madison, Florida; by 26 great-grandchildren; and by 4 great-great grandchildren.
