A few months ago, I found myself thinking about Miss Margie and Junior, Byron’s parents. I knew Miss Margie had had a stroke. After a few minutes on Google, I found that Margie, Junior and Susan had all passed away. They were all so good to me both while I dated Byron and after. They treated me like family. I find comfort in knowing they are all together now.

I had just found out that Byron had passed.  He was my first love.  RIP Byron

A good man gone to soon. Never met anyone who did not like him.   He is missed.

I'm so shocked and saddened to hear about the passing of Byron Sheffield. Not only did Byron and I attend Florida High together but I also knew Byron from church.  Yes, church!  We both attended the First Pentecostal Holiness Church with our parents when we were children.  My fondest memory of Byron was when he and I played Joseph and Mary in the nativity for the Christmas play.  My heart goes out to the Sheffield family at this time of great sorrow.

Too many memories to mention but him and his van playing the Boston, Peter Frampton and Jimmy Buffet tapes. Scaring the you know what out of me driving his boat through the back channels at the lake are the ones that stand out (and can mention here...lol)
Fly High Brother...

Its hard to put into words how you feel about someone. Byron was a friend from school so I guess life long. We re-connected over the past few years and I remembered why I liked him so much.  Rest now my friend. You will be missed.

I was truly sad to hear we lost yet another Fly High classmate.....Byron sure made dealing with coming to a new High School a lot easier and a lot more fun! I think of Byron and that big smile he Always had on his face and the fact that he rocked his Flip Flops Winter, Spring, Summer and Fall! I am sending prayers out to his entire family and friends! Heaven just got a new angel and now it's a lot more fun up there! RIP my dear friend! You will be missed and you left us all much too soon!

I have known Byron since high school. We started dating in 2013. He was the love of my life. We had many good times together and I cherish every moment we spent together. We went through many trials and tribulations together with our children and ourselves of course. I am still in shock that he is gone and I know he cherished what time he got to spend with his new granddaughter. I always told him he would never understand what it’s like to be a grandparent until you become one. He called me after she was born and told me I was 100 percent right. One of our last conversations he was asking about my grandson and he told me he would always love me. I got engaged and he had been calling me last couple weeks and I never got the chance to call him back. My not calling him back will be a huge regret in my life. I will always cherish the moments him and I spent together and he will be forever missed. I will always love you too Byron Sheffield and you will be forever missed. Thank you for being there for me when I needed you and becoming one of my best friends. Until I see you again one day fly high with the angels. I love you!!

One of my vivid memories of him was holding on to the handlebars of a motorcycle  and standing on a skateboard going down Lakeview Drive.

I saw Byron in late July, and he looked the best I'd seen him in years!

Byron was the most gentle of souls. I will forever cherish my memories of him and the time spent on Lakeview Drive. My deepest condolences to Junior and Ms. Margie, Susan, his children and all who loved him.  He was one of a kind. May he rest in eternal peace.

My heart hurts for Byron’s entire family.  You all have lost a gentle and kind soul, and someone who loved you with all his heart.  He was a lifelong dear friend to me, and I will miss him.  My prayers for healing to each of you and may you take comfort and find peace in the memories you made with him.  Madelyn brought so much joy into his life – he absolutely beamed with happiness.  Treasure those moments and tell the stories – because there are so many.  May he forever rest in peace.  We all know he’s enjoying the celebration with those he has been reunited with.
