

Charles was born in Abilene, Texas and a graduate of McMurry College in Abilene, Texas with a Bachelor of Science degree.
Charles is survived by his wife, Jeanne Alexander; son, Charles Bradley Alexander and Carla; granddaughter, Corina Campbell and Tim; grandson, James Alexander; grandson, Michael Alexander. Preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Clara Alexander, and brother, Dr. Bill Alexander.
Born with a deep sense of purpose and service, Charles devoted his life to protecting the health and well-being of communities everywhere he was called to serve. His distinguished career spanned more than 50 years and included significant leadership roles at the local, state, and federal levels.
Charles served as a Senior Public Health Advisor with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), where he played a vital role in immunization outreach, disease prevention initiatives, and national community-health programs. His expertise and steadfast leadership made him a trusted voice during times of public health challenge and transition.
He also served within the National Immunization Program of the Florida Department of Health, where his vision and work continues to influence public health policy and practice throughout Florida.
Charles’s commitment to service extended far beyond one location. Over the course of his career, he contributed his talents and leadership in Nashville, Tennessee, Los Angeles, California, and Hartford, Connecticut. One of the highlights of Charles career came in 1975 when he was commissioned by the World Health Organization to join a team of 2500 health professionals from around the globe for the eradication of smallpox in the country of Bangladesh. The goal was achieved by this great team.
Those who knew Charles remember him as a man of unwavering faith, gentle wisdom, and quiet strength. He approached every task—great or small—with sincerity and a desire to help others. His warm smile, calm presence, and generous spirit will be deeply missed.
A celebration of his life will be held on December 12th at Golden Eagle Country Club. Visitation will be from 10am till 11am, with the memorial service beginning at 11am. Friends , colleagues, and family are invited to gather in gratitude for the extraordinary life of a man who devoted himself to the health of others.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to “In Touch Ministries “ Atlanta, Georgia, or “Big Bend Hospice”, continuing Charles’s lifelong commitment to improving the well-being of communities.
Charles H. Alexander lived a life of purpose, compassion, and service—and the impact of his work will continue to protect lives for generations to come.
