
Charles (Chuck) Hall Wolfgang was born September 14, 1941, to John Wolfgang and Louise Hall Wolfgang in Greensburg, PA. He passed away peacefully in his sleep at the age of 84 on October 15, 2025, in Tallahassee, Florida.
Chuck was a devoted husband, proud father, renowned educator, captivating storyteller, and lifelong learner. He had a kind heart and was a deep thinker. He spent his teen years working at the Ocean City Boardwalk in New Jersey which is where he developed is love for the water and fishing which later brought him to Florida where he retired.
Chuck had a long, distinguished career in education that encompassed teaching, consulting, research, and mentoring other educators nationally and internationally. He was a schoolteacher, principal, and eventually became a university professor.
He touched the lives of many families when he founded School for Young Children, which continues to serve as a model early childhood program in Tallahassee, Florida. The School for Young Children was also the subject and title of one of his many books on education, which have garnered much praise. His theories and practices are still used in classrooms across the country.
Chuck is survived by his eldest daughter Ellen Rogers and her husband Josh Rogers and their daughter Mary Rogers, his twin daughters Ann Wolfgang and Katherine Wolfgang, brother John Wolfgang and his wife Gwen Wolfgang and their children Jonathan Wolfgang and Mark Wolfgang.
He was preceded by his wife Mary Ellen Wolfgang, and parents John Wolfgang and Louise Hall Wolfgang.
A memorial Service will be held Nov. 15, 2025, in Pittsburg PA. Time & location 11am, 131 Long Dr. Irwin, Pa.
