

Cheri Lynn Phillips, 48 of Tallahassee, FL passed away at her home on September 4, 2013. She was born September 2, 1965 in Jacksonville, FL to the late JM “Buddy” Phillips and Mary Jo Rogers Phillips. She grew up in Tallahassee, graduating from North Florida Christian School and then attended Valdosta State, Tallahassee Community College and her beloved Florida State University (GO NOLES!!!). Cheri was a member of the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) family as supervisor in the CJIS User Services Bureau. She was a well-respected leader and problem-solver, well liked and respected by her colleagues. Through her dedication, Cheri earned CJIS Meritorious Service and Quality Awards…she was a proud member of FDLE and exemplified their core values of Service, Integrity, Respect and Quality. Cheri came from a law enforcement family. Her brother is FDLE ASAC Mike Phillips; her father, former Suwanee County Sheriff, FDLE Agent and Mutual Aid Director, J. M. “Buddy” Phillips, retired as the Executive Director of the Florida Sheriff’s Association. Cheri was devoted to her family and loved spending time with her brother, Mike and sister-in-law, Lisa and especially her precious niece Emmalee and beloved nephew, John-Michael; often taking them to their extracurricular activities and cheering them on at their sporting events.
Family will receive friends from 6 – 8 pm Friday at Culley MeadowWood Funeral Home, 700 Timberlane Road. Funeral service will be held 10:30 am Saturday, September 7, 2013 in Wildwood Church, 100 Ox Bottom Road. Burial will be private in Live Oak, Florida.
