

Darvin Vinson Powell, born December 14, 1932, in Johnson County Georgia, passed away peacefully on December 24, 2025 at the age of 93. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, veteran, and businessman who will be remembered for the steady example he set through his life.
Darvin graduated from Glynn Academy in Brunswick Georgia in 1951. He proudly served four years in the United States Navy aboard the aircraft carrier USS Tarawa.
Following his military service, Darvin attended Florida State University, where he earned a degree in business in 1959. While at FSU, he met the love of his life, Dorothy Harrison, and they were married on February 6, 1960.
In 1980 Darvin founded Darvin V. Powell, Inc., a steel doors and frames, builders hardware, and building specialities company, where he was known for his strong work ethic and integrity. He retired in 2002.
Throughout his life, Darvin enjoyed woodworking and "fix-it" projects.
Darvin was received into Christ's Church on December 14, 2025, through the sacrament of Holy Baptism.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Dorothy Harrison Powell; his two children, Gregory Powell and Cynthia Powell Rodriguez (Dave); and his two grandchildren, David Rodriguez (Agathe) and Robin Rodriguez.
Private memorial services will be held at a later date at Culley's MeadowWood Memorial Park in Tallahassee, Florida
