

Dena Jean Williams, 69, of Tallahassee, Florida, passed away on February 22, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones. Born in Chicago Heights, Illinois, on August 26, 1955, she moved to Florida in the early 1970’s to become a long-time resident of the Tallahassee area.
Dena is preceded in death by her parents, James E. Williams and Betty B. Williams, and nephew Gregory L. Cooksey.
She is survived by her beloved children, Tira Dilks (John), Conner Bacon and Hannah Bacon; grandson, Jack Dilks; brother, Larry Williams (Karen); sisters, Debbie Gwaltney (Sam), Donna Williams, Denene Hurst (Joe), and Denise Williams as well as several nieces and nephews.
Dena was a devoted Mother, loving MiMi (grandmother), beloved Sister, Daughter, Aunt and Friend. A faithful follower of Christ, Dena lived a life deeply rooted in love and unwavering faith. It is with a great sense of peace that her family and friends know that not only is she now reunited with her loved ones who have passed on before her, but more importantly, that she is resting in the arms of Jesus, the author and perfecter of her faith.
She thrived on playing cards and board games consistently besting anyone bold enough to challenge her at Scrabble, Rummikub, or Skip-Bo. She remained central to the joyful happenings of her close-knit group of girlfriends, who’s sisterhood enriched her life as hers did theirs.
Above all, Dena was a loving mother who taught her children independence, strength, determination, and the true meaning of unconditional love. Her boundless strength, kindness, and generosity, always putting others before herself, and dedication to family and friends will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
A Visitation and Celebration of Life service will be held on February 27, 2025, with Visitation from 10:00-11:00 a.m., and Celebration of Life service at 11:00 a.m., at Fellowship Baptist Church, 3705 N. Monroe St., Tallahassee, Florida 32303.
